Friendship is a close, cooperative and supportive relationship between two people. Strictly speaking friendship is characterized through a very special form of sympathy and confidence. Furthermore it involves affection, esteem and respect in front of real friends. This all comes along with rendering service to friends, especially in times of crisis, need or problems. Real friends do have a very specific helping behavior such as the giving of advices or the sharing of hardship. But what actually makes a true friend? A true friend shows sympathy and empathy, is honest especially in situations in which it may be difficult for other persons to tell the truth and is characterized through a very special mutual understanding.
